Bottomless Pit

Shelby eats like a horse. She's really embraced table food, but this is getting ridiculous. Let's take today for example:

Breakfast: 1 packet of oatmeal.

Lunch: Meatloaf, green beans, and mashed potatoes (it's as though it's Sunday dinner at Grandma's!).

Dinner: More meatloaf, cheese, ham, tortilla, applesauce, and Cheerios.

In addition, she had 16 oz of milk!

She likes to feed herself off her highchair tray, but also likes to be fed. We're trying to figure out just the right bib position so the offcasts from the feeding frenzy don't get smooshed into her clothes or the floor. We've adopted the "slide" set-up. It just rolls down the bib, and back onto the tray. We only have to monitor for banana bits getting lodged in the neck folds.

Hey! With her eating everything in sight, at least it's a lot easier to prepare dinner for the family!

Swimming - Session 2

This morning we began Shelby's second session of swimming lessons. I think it was the first sessions for the other 4 or 5 kids. And Shelby was showing off! She's comfortable in the water in all positions - tummy or back. She practiced a front crawl type movement toward a rubber duck (for inspiration). Floating on her back is easy and of course since she's been kicking her feet since birth, she really looks like she knows what she's doing. And we also practiced jumping in (from a seated position) and climbing out (with assistance) - anything to catch the rubber ducky!

Look for some pictures or video next week. I think Bonnie will be joining us in the pool!
